The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia is holding a one-day conference for senior finance executives and other interested parties at
Park Hyatt Hotel Melbourne on November 25, 2011, Friday.

The Australian organization sees the next 12-18 months as important for the future direction of international financial reporting.

“High quality international financial reporting standards are a force for economic progress. The adoption of IFRSs is making a public commitment to maintaining the highest standards for financial reporting, establishes a high-quality level playing field for globalised markets, and links the new growth economies in the East with the more established economies in the West,” it stated.

The conference is said to offer the latest and most in-depth information on IFRSs. The Board and Staff members of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) will share the strategic direction of the work plan and the forthcoming amendments to IFRSs.

It features in-depth presentations and panel discussions led by a speaker line-up, including standard setters, and special interest sessions that will provide you with a solid insight into the new standards and amendments, as well as an appreciation of what’s to come.

The welcome address will be given by Jeffrey Lucy, Trustee, IFRS Foundation and another address by Nick Collishaw, Managing Director, Mirvac Group.
